Amalfi Coast Destination Wedding | Positano, Italy

If you’re thinking about a destination wedding, I have two words for you my friend: DO IT.

And then invite me!

Seriously, though, destination weddings are among my favorite things to capture because they offer such a different vital experience for wedding couples. You’re traveling, so there’s a limit on what you can do, bring, worry about, it’s just a remarkably light feeling of adventure that infuses your wedding day.

That adventurous spirt is exactly what led my couple Ashley and Zach to the cliffs of Positano, Italy to say their I-do’s.

I love their love story. Ashley had just moved to a new town and called up the only person she knew for a lunch date. Who does he bring to the lunch? His roommate, Zach. From friends to partners, Ashley and Zach have always shared a love for traveling and being citizens of the world. It was on one such adventure that led to their engagement. After a day in Lapland, Finland driving husky sleds through the Arctic and getting ready for a late dinner under the stars, Zach proposed to Ashley under the Northern Lights. Amazing.

Fast forward to wedding planning, and it just made sense for them to have a destination wedding. Amalfi Coast? Why not?!

Their day was absolutely stunning, tucked into the cliffs of the Positano coastline. From their rented Airbnb, they set up an amazing ceremony space on the balcony overlooking the water, with fresh flowers hanging from the tree where exchanged vows. It all felt very magical.

We walked around the narrow historic alleys and sun-bleached facades of this charming Italian city to capture some of the most beautiful couples portraits. Then we moved onto their reception where there was lots of wine, local artisanal gifts for guests, and a live local band that added so much joy and laughter to the night. The couple really did an amazing job at including the residents of the city into their planning and it paid off. Everything was gorgeous and unique.

At the end of the day, we had so much fun experiencing all that Italy has to offer and I would go back any time! Ashley and Zach, thank you so much for including me in your adventure. Cheers to the next one!
