Intimate Vintage Wedding at Historic Home

April and Brandan wanted a "vintage homemade" theme for their wedding day. They love history, and so Cherry Hill Farmhouse, in Falls Church, VA, was the perfect intimate spot for their celebration. April is all about DIY stuff! All the decoration was handmade and honored various historical styles. The praying flags hanging out on the porch, where the ceremony happened, were made of vintage napkins, doilies and handkerchiefs. It was a Fall wedding and April wanted to make sure to wear something warm over her dress, so she knitted the shrug herself and it turned out sooo beautiful! It fitted the dress perfectly! Funny fact about her wedding dress: She bought 3 different wedding dresses until she finally decided to stick to this one. Not sure how the other ones looked, but I think this was the perfect match! I love the lacing and how the skirt has so much fabric making it super flowy.
She chose a dried flower bouquet that smelled amazingly good and what a cool idea that she gets to keep that bouquet forever!
Kilroy, their retired racer greyhound, wore an adorable bowtie and was in his best behavior during the whole ceremony and right after he ran and jumped all over his mummy and daddy. Cute!

If you're thinking on having an intimate wedding like this one, maybe you'd like to read some words from the bride:

"Wedding planning can be incredibly stressful, especially for those of us who don’t enjoy event planning.  I’ll admit: planning even a small wedding was the source of much anxiety.  But then we realized that we could have an à la carte wedding—we could pick what we wanted from the traditional wedding menu  and disregard the rest. It actually became fun once we let go of expectations and focused on incorporating the things we love—like our dog, history, books, beer (him), and crafting (her).  Even though we raised a few eyebrows with some of our decisions (only 20 guests? dog invitations? no wedding party? reception at a brewery?), our wedding day turned out to be perfect.   It was different, it was simple, it was us, and we had so much fun!"

Some love words from April and Brandan:
'My husband and I feel so lucky to have found Barbara! It was clear from the beginning that our "tiny wedding" was in good hands. She paid attention to our style and special requests (like privacy and editing out a stain) and had a firm grasp on the things we felt to be important. The process was simple and Barbara not only gave us exactly what we wanted for our wedding photos, but she actually very much exceeded our expectations. The photos are stunningly beautiful and capture all of the details, happiness, excitement, and love of our wedding day. Today is a wash because I just can't stop looking at the online gallery. She made us look SO good! The only thing more lovely than Barbara's work is Barbara herself. Even though we didn't meet her in person until the wedding day, I felt like I had known her forever; she put us at ease, and we trusted her completely. We thoroughly enjoyed Barbara's energy; she exudes kindness and adoration, and I felt that she cared just as much about our wedding as we did. True story: I had forgotten hair pins to affix my headpiece. Barbara very graciously took the pins out of her own hair and gave them to me, therefore going above and beyond. Our guests loved her, too, and so did our Best Dog. I can't imagine working with any other photographer.'
