Bohemian Wedding at Antrim 1844
In the Summer of 2017, Antonia and Dan had their dream wedding at Antrim 1844, a stunning venue in Taneytown, MD. The old historic mansion has so many spaces to get lost. All the colorful wallpaper walls, the vintage furniture, the gardens and secret passages, the fountains. Everything is just breathtaking!
Antonia and Dan had a romantic bohemian and elegant wedding. The bridesmaids dresses were all different and had several shades of blush, and they all came together beautifully. Antonia's wedding dress was also blush, being darker in the bottom and lighter up top. She got her wedding dress at BHLDN. Her loose bouquet was also to die for. Very natural looking, with lots of greenery, with touches of blush and burgundy, by Flowers and Fancies.
Antonia: 'My gown was blush pink with the appearance of having a slight ombre, and was embellished with a florally art deco style beading. I always knew I didn't want white, but I ended up buying a totally different silhouette than I had originally thought I wanted. For my flowers, I just wanted something organic and natural looking. We ended up going with blushes and burgundy with some greenery to coordinate with my dress.'
The ceremony was outside at Antrim 1844's secret garden. Dan cried when he saw Antonia walking down the isle. Duh! How could you not? She looked STUNNING!
Antonia: 'The entire evening was truly incredible, but if I had to narrow down the highlights, I would say seeing Dan as I walked down the isle was a uniquely special moment. At the end of the night, there was also a moment when our guests made a circle and were dancing around us. We had a little trick up our sleeves that involved Dan spinning me around in a jazz split. We thought we might've done it during our first dance, but didn't... we ended up doing it then, and it totally surprised everyone! The look on everyone's faces, on top of feeling like I was flying, was priceless!'
Later at the reception, a band called Hero Entertainment played the whole time! Their energy was so contagious and the dance floor did not take any breaks. It was wild! Guests were loving it!!
Antonia: 'We also had a live band, which unfortunately isn't as common anymore. There's nothing really like live music, and the band kept everyone energized and excited for dancing the entire night!'
Antonia: 'My best piece of advise for brides (from my experience as a recent bride and former manager of a bridal shop), would be to have fun and don't stress! Let your hypothetical dream wedding take shape into your REAL dream wedding. The first step in making that happen is to do what makes you and your hubby-to-be happy, and don't worry about anyone else. It also helps not to get too caught up in the little things, and to trust your vendors. Also, don't overwhelm yourself with too many options or too many opinions. If you find a venue that you love and it works with your budget, cancel the rest of your appointments, book it, and check it off the list!'
