Colorful Caribbean Destination Wedding | San Juan, Puerto Rico

I have been wanting to blog about this wedding FOREVER, but with how weddings exploded post-pandemic, I’m only now able to share the absolutely gorgeous time I had in the city of Old San Juan, Puerto Rico, alongside the easiest going Bride and Groom, Tiffany and Russell.

Through the relentless matchmaking of mutual friends who wanted them to meet, Tiff and Russell went on their first date at the end of their college experience, and that was that. Apparently their friends knew what they were doing!

After Russell popped the question, the pair decided that it wasn’t important to them to go through all the traditional rounds of wedding planning, and committed to having a super low-key wedding they loved, without all the stress.

They even sought me out as a photographer because they weren’t interested in spending their day posing, and knew that I favored more candid, photojournalistic style photos that would allow both them and their families to be in their element celebrating instead of looking for the next angle.

So, off we flew to the Caribbean to get them married with Puerto Rican flair!

I cannot say enough good things about San Juan. The color palette is incredible, full of vivid oranges, blues, yellows, pinks and everything in between. The architecture is aging but stately, and the feeling of being surrounded by living art is incomparable.

Tiff and Russell’s intimate ceremony took place at Plazuela La Rogativa in Old San Juan, where the couple walked each other down the aisle in an incredible show of love and unity.

Afterward, they and their guests all walked together across well-worn cobblestone streets to the reception at El Convento Hotel where their after party included amazing cathedral like ceilings and a paleta man with local popsicles for the guests!

This was such a beautiful location, and such a relaxed group of people that it made my job barely a job at all. I loved investigating the old and colorful neighborhoods of this historic island and I hope to go back one day.

Tiff and Russell, even though your wedding day is now years past, I can’t thank you enough for taking me on your wild and wonderful wedding adventure!
